Ambrosia Software on Thursday announced the result of its latest collaboration with Introversion Software, makers of Darwinia and Uplink. Defcon is now available for download. It costs $25 to register.
Defcon turns the controversial topic of global thermonuclear war into a game. Taking a page from the 1983 movie classic “WarGames,” you assume the role of a Cold War-era general hidden deep within an underground bunker. You’re tasked with exterminating the enemy’s civilian population while disabling their ability to retaliate.
You have to form tactical alliances, using your resources to deploy a sneak attack on the enemy and defending yourself and your allies from destruction before the missiles fly. The game features support for play against the computer or against other players online.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later. Defcon is a Universal binary.
