NitroAV has announced their 3-Port PCIe SATAStar, a PCI Express-equipped expansion card for Macs and PCs that features two external Serial ATA (eSATA) and one internal SATA interfaces. It costs $59.95.
Compatible with Mac OS X, Windows and Linux, the 3-Port PCIe SATAStar works at up to 3 gigabits per second and can be used as either a RAID or non-RAID controller in conjunction with Apple’s Disk Utility and other third-party applications.
The card features 48-bit LBA support for drives larger than 137GB and is capable of operating two ports at once. It utilizes Silicon Images’ Sil3132 chipset. It sports upgradable firmware, as well. It fits into the PCI Express expansion slots found on later-model Power Mac G5s and Mac Pros.
The card works with Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
