Anawiki has announced the release of Maggie the Gardener 2, a new casual game for the Mac that the developer bills as a “garden construction set.” A demo version is available for download. It costs $12.95 to register.
Maggie the Gardener 2 doesn’t have any specific goals or missions to complete; it’s an open-ended “sandbox” style game where the goal is simply to craft a beautiful garden that you’re proud of. The game includes six different types of basic gardens to choose from, and lots of flowers, trees and bushes to plant, fountains, gnomes and other things to decorate your garden with.
Once you’re happy with your garden design, you can save it, and you can upload it to an online gallery hosted by Anawiki to share it with others. The idea is simply to be creative and do what you’d like with the garden, not to complete or beat the clock.
System requirements call for a G3/350MHz or faster with Mac OS X v10.3 or later, 128MB RAM and OpenGL-accelerated graphics. It’s a Universal binary.
