Lexar’s new JumpDrive Secure II Plus USB flash drive features a built-in LCD capacity meter. It’s available in 512MB, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities (an 8GB version is due) at prices beginning at $20.
The drive includes 256-bit AES encryption to secure data. It’s Mac and PC-compatible, including Windows Vista. The security software lets you drag and drop files into a secure partition on the flash drive where they’re automatically encrypted. A “file shredder” feature deletes files securely too.
The capacity meter is shatterproof and ultra-thin, according to Lexar. The meter shows you at a glance how much space remains available on the drive.
Lexar’s Web site had not been updated as Macworld posted this article.
