Small Tree Communications on Monday announced the release of its PEG1D, a one-port PCI Express (PCIe) expansion card for the Mac Pro, and Power Mac G5. The card costs $99.
The card enables users of those Mac models to add another basic Gigabit Ethernet port to their Mac. It does not support 802.3ad link aggregation, but works with standard and jumbo frames and provides support for Gigabit Ethernet over copper RJ-45 connections.
System requirements call for a Mac with an open PCIe expansion port (a Power Mac G5 with PCI Express or Mac Pro. It’s not recommended for the Xserve.
