Funimation added two more titles to its collection of Japanese animation (anime) available for purchase and download from the iTunes Store: Trinity Blood and The Galaxy Express. Both series are available for download per episode or per season. Each episode costs $1.99; the entire season of 24 episodes of Trinity Blood or 26 episodes of The Galaxy Railways costs $38.99.
Trinity Blood is a futuristic action title with a gothic twist: It tells the story of Father Abel Nightroad, an gun-toting priest with the Catholic Church who goes on a hunt for vampires as part of a tactical team maintained by the Vatican, the AX. Trinity Blood is rated TV MA, for mature audiences.
The Galaxy Railways is the work of an acknowledged anime master, Leiji Matsumoto, director of Space Battleship Yamato (later rechristened “Star Blazers” for American audiences). It describes an unlikely mode of intergalactic transportation: trains — the Galaxy Railways, defended by the SDF, an elite force that protects railway passengers from terrorists, meteor storms and other dangers. The Galaxy Railways is rated TV PG, parental guidance suggested.
