WiebeTech has introduced a FireWire 800-equipped version of its Notebook DriveDock, a device that enables you to quickly connect a bare 2.5-inch hard disk drive to a host computer. It costs $169.95.
The new NoteBook DriveDock 800 features dual daisy-chainable Firewire 800 ports and a USB 2.0 port. It powers up a PATA/ATAPI 2.5-inch hard disk drive using a standard 4-pin molex connector or optional 12V adapter. It features power LEDs to let you know the drive is getting power (the 12V adapter isn’t necessary when connected to a powered FireWire 800 host). The DriveDock also sports an on/off switch, automatic FireWire and USB host detection and more.
In related news, WiebeTech has dropped prices on the SATADock, FireWire DriveDock and FireWire 400 DriveDock; the SATADock is now $169.95 and the FireWire and FireWire NoteBook DriveDocks are each $99.95.
