FileWave on Thursday announced the release of Asset Trustee 8.0, a major new upgrade to its Mac OS X and Windows asset management and inventory software.
Using Asset Trustee, IT managers and system administrators can perform hardware and software inventories. The software uses a Scanner component which runs in the background of each computer, then uploads the data to the Asset Trustee PostOffice. That information can then be managed and turned into reports, searched using queries and more. It’s a Universal binary.
New to the 8.0 release are new discovery and archiving features. The software notifies administrators when computers have not reported back in a specified period of time, for example. It also provides reports about network interfaces, about whether apps or patches have been installed by FileWave, the company’s eponymous system management software, and about the version number of patches. System performance has been improved as well.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or later.
