Adobe Systems has announced the forthcoming release of Camera Raw 4.1, an update to the plug-in the company offers to enable its Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Elements 4.01 software to manipulate raw digital camera files. The update will available for download from Adobe’s Web site.
The plug-in enables Photoshop and Photoshop Elements to read and manipulate the raw files produced by dozens of digital camera models — everything from digital single lens reflex (DSLR) models to medium format camera backs.
New to this release is support for 13 additional models, including Canon’s new EOS-1D Mark III, Fuji’s FinePix S5 Pro, models from Nikon, Olympus and more. Also new to this version is improved noise reduction and sharpening tools.
An updated version of Adobe’s Digital Negative (DNG) Converter is also available. Version Cue an Bridge will also be updated; an update for Lightroom is also anticipated.
Editor’s note: Adobe has acknowledged a delay in the release of the plug-in.
“As you may have noticed, there has been a slight delay posting the Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 4.1 update to Adobe.com,” said a company spokesman. “This problem will be resolved by the end of the week.”
