Curl has announced the availability of a public beta release of the Curl Run Time Environment (RTE) for the Mac. The RTE enables users to run Curl applications using Safari or Firefox.
Curl is aimed at users in corporate environments who need to access “rich” information and services using Web browsers. The software uses the Curl content language to provide access to a broad range of data types, including 3D graphics and other multimedia.
The Mac beta offers the same range of features that are available to users of Curl’s Linux and Windows RTEs, including security, connectivity through various standards like TCP/IP, SOAL, PHP and .net, integrated controls, support for non-Roman languages such as Korean, Japanese and Chinese, and Mac user interface conventions. The beta release supports the Curl Rich Internet Application (RIA) platform v5.0 or later.
System requirements for the Curl RTE call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later, Safari or Firefox 1.5 or later, PowerPC or Intel based Mac, 512MB RAM and 25MB hard disk space.
