By Design Games is continuing development of The Late Call, a new third-person stealth game for Mac, PC and consoles. The developer has posted a “3D” screenshot of the game that lets you rotate the image so you can get a better sense of what’s going on. The Late Call is anticipated for release this summer.
The Late Call features a “noir” style — lots of foggy streets lit by streetlamps at night. You’re tasked with disabling bombs in various locations, and you must use your Mac’s microphone as part of the game play. Gradually the story unravels as you solve each mystery. Although the game taps into a genre that’s been the purview of “hardcore” gamers, The Late Call is designed for a general, mass audience, according to the developer.
The Late Call is being developed using Unity, the 3D game development engine from OTEE that focuses on Mac-centric development but enables game creators to deploy their creations on Windows and, more recently, the Wii platform as well.
