Blackmagic Design announced Thursday that it’s shipping its new Intensity Pro. The $349 card enables video pros to capture and play back video using High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI).
Intensity Pro is a PCI Express expansion card compatible with Mac Pros and PCs. In addition to an HDMI interface it touts analog capture and playback capabilities with support for component, NTSC, PAL and S-Video. It can also capture and play back stereo analog audio (a breakout cable is provided to connect to analog sources).
You can use Intensity Pro to capture and play back DV, HDV, online JPEG and uncompressed video, use it for edit playback monitoring on televisions and video projects, and switch between High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD). It supports real-time effects in Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro and supports live production editing with Blackmagic’s On-Air mixing software.
