Potion Factory has released
1.2, an update to its “magical playlist generator” for Mac OS X. The update is free for registered users; Tangerine costs $24.95, and a 15-day demo is available for download.
Tangerine analyzes the contents of your iTunes library so you can create playlists by tempo and beat intensity. Helpful, explained the developer, for creating a good workout mix. In fact, tangerine provides five playlist generation patterns good for treadmill routines — helpful for runners doing interval training and hill training. It’s also handy for DJs and others who want to sort out the beats per minute of their music libraries.
The new 1.2 release now analyzes songs that have been purchased through the iTunes Store which are encrypted using Apple’s FairPlay Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4. Tangerine is a Universal binary.
