Creative workflows that leverage Canto’s Cumulus Digital Asset Management (DAM) software and Adobe Creative Suite 3 applications won’t have to travel far to find their assets, according to a statement offered Tuesday from Canto. The company has announced plans to integrate Cumulus with CS3 to make asset management as seamless as possible.
Canto will leverage Adobe’s own Version Cue CS3 Software Development Kit (SDK) to build the integration. Once it’s completed, CS3 application users will be able to access Cumulus catalogs and asset collections without having to leave their CS3 apps.
Cumulus’ native clients for Mac OS X and Windows will provide access to the same assets without needing Creative Suite 3 apps, so users who aren’t using the CS3 suite will still have access to the assets they need. What’s more, the Cumulus clients include advanced options not available through CS3 apps, such as finding assets based on their relationships to other assets, determining access permissions for users and configuration catalogs based on workflow needs.
Canto expects to offer this integration sometime during the fourth calendar quarter of 2007, with support for Cumulus 7.5 and BrandAssistant servers.
