Big Mug Software has announced the release of Monitor Magic for Mac OS X, a utility designed for video professionals who need to monitor multiple DV, DVCPro, DVCProHD and HDV cameras. It costs $139.
The software provides waveform monitors, vectorscopes, RGB parads and histograms so you can make sure you’re recording the highest-quality (and broadcast-legal) video. It can track multiple cameras so you can ensure color balance and brightness before you start recording.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later. Standard definition video requires a 1GHz or faster G4 or Intel; high definition requires a G5 or Intel. DVCProHD support requires the Apple DVCProHD codec (bundled with Final Cut Pro HD). A FireWire-based video camera is also required.
