Techspansion has announced the release of VisualHub 1.2.4, a new version of its popular Macintosh video conversion software. It costs $23.32 and is a free update for registered users.
VisualHub is billed as a universal video converter. It can convert from nearly any video format to formats optimized for the iPod, PSP, DV, DVD, TiVo, AVI, MP4, WMV, MPEG and Flash. The software supports “grid” processing via Xgrid, Apple’s own grid computing software, and it doesn’t require QuickTime Pro or any other specialized software.
The new 1.2.4 release adds a new high-resolution MP4 format that manages 34 percent better widescreen picture quality, according to the developer. Also new in this release is a “technology preview” of support AppleScript actions users can use to control VisualHub and its conversions.
VisualHub requires Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, and is a Universal binary. A time-limited demo is available for download.
