Apple has updated the applications included with its Final Cut Studio 2 suite. You can check the Software Update system preference, or visit Apple’s downloads Web site for individual updates. Final Cut Pro 6.0.1, Motion 3.0.1, Color 1.0.1, Compressor 3.0.1, Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 and Pro Applications Update 2007-01 are all available for download.
Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 improves stability, adds support for the AVCHD format through the Log and Transfer interface, improves FXPlug with Motion and third-party applications, improves master template support, and resolves issues with long filenames.
Motion 3.0.1 also improves stability and resolves performance issues. It also provides specific fixes for 32-bit float projects, rendering of intersecting 3D groups and Final Cut Pro integration.
Color 1.0.1 improves stability, improves metadata support from Final Cut Pro, improves single-display mode, provides floating-point processing on Nvidia graphics card-equipped Macs, and performs dissolves of 2K files during rendering. Compressor 3.0.1 gets perfunctory performance and stability improvements and also provides compatibility updates for Apple devices. Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 also has performance and stability improvements, and updates the Delay Designer surround effect plug-in.
The Pro Applications Update includes fixes to the frameworks that underly Apple’s pro software applications and their shared components. Specifically, it provides improved encoding performance for Power Mac G5s when using Apple’s new ProRes 422 codec; delivers filter improvements for Motion 3 and Final Cut Pro 6 users, updates the PluginManager, FxPlug, ProFX and FxPlugWrapper components, and improves the Helium.framework used for SmoothCam.
