Freeverse, the company long known to Mac users as a purveyor of original games, and more recently, utilities and other software, along with console games, is dropping the word “Software” from their name.
This Apple-esque turn of events has been provoked by Freeverse’s continued development diversification, according to Freeverse president Ian Lynch Smith.
“As we’ve expanded into other realms such as console game development, the ‘Software’ part of our name has been feeling a little antiquated. With a new look and a new website, we felt the moment was right for a slightly new name as well,” said Smith.
“Plus, Apple dropped ‘Computer’ from their name and everyone knows that we like to do everything that Apple does. It’s how we roll,” he added with a wink.
Freeverse plans to unveil a new Web site and make new product announcements later this week.
