The Myvu lets you watch video on your iPod using eyewear that simulates a 27-inch TV screen from about six feet away. Now the company has introduced Myvu solo, a lower-priced alternative for iPod users on a smaller budget. It costs $199.95.
Myvu looks a pair of space-age sunglasses and tethers to the iPod using a dock connector apparatus. The “fully loaded edition” includes a battery pack and ships in a hard case, with a protective case to cover the iPod, but it costs $299.95.
The Myvu solo eschews the power pack and premium travel case, although both of those accessories are available separately. The system still incorporates the eyewear, in-ear noise-reducing earbuds, an inline pendant for picture and audio controls, and a microfiber protective sleeve and lens cloth.
Myvu says the system is now available for order from its Web site (the site listed it as “coming soon” as Playlist posted this article) and through ZoomSystems’ automated retail systems located in airports and Macy’s department stores.
