Synchronica on Wednesday announced that its Mobile Gateway 3.0 software supports Over the Air (OTA) synchronization between Microsoft Exchange and the Apple iPhone. It’s another way iPhone users can communicate with business associates using the popular Exchange software.
Synchronica Mobile Gateway integrates with existing corporate infrastructure without requiring IT staff to expose IMAP and SMTP, according to the developer. It uses Outlook Web Access (OWA) to retrieve e-mail from corporate Exchange servers — OWA is commonly provided by Exchange administrators in order to provide users with access to corporate e-mail when they’re on the road.
Mobile Gateway 3.0 delivers the Exchange e-mails directly to mail client on the iPhone, so users don’t have to navigate using the Safari Web browser. It also works with phones made by Nokia, Sony Ericsson and other companies.
