SoonR on Monday announced that its remote file access service works with the iPhone.
SoonR connects mobile phones with the data on a remote Mac or PC. Users can access documents, spreadsheets and presentations — more than 40 different document types — using a slideshow style interface. It also provides integration with Outlook e-mail, calendar and contact information (Mac users can access their Mail account, mail attachments and contacts).
SoonR leverage AJAX technology, which is supported by the iPhone. The developers have enabled SoonR working on the iPhone to scale fonts and pictures and make adjustments depending on whether the iPhone is being held in portrait or landscape modes. Users can also zoom and pan using the iPhone’s “pinch” action.
SoonR users can also initiate a Skype call from their iPhone, using the Mac or PC to bridge the call. SoonR Talk also lets users make Skype chats and can show user status or presence info.
SoonR offers “basic” accounts for free; the company is beta-testing the software and plans to offer “premium” services in the near future.
