OWC on Wednesday announced NASPerform, a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device for Mac and PC users. It’s available starting at $127.99 in capacities ranging from 250GB to 750GB.
The NASPerform features a 10/100baseT Ethernet jack and a USB 2.0 jack. It can either be used on a network or connected directly to a computer as an external hard disk drive. A front panel LED status light shows when the unit is powered on and active. It measures 5.2 x 8.7 x 1.8 inches and weighs three pounds. Inside is a 7200RPM drive mechanism with 16MB of cache.
The device lets you assign read and write privileges to each network user so you can use the device for multimedia storage, home network storage, small business data archiving and more. OWC includes ProSoft Engineering Data Backup 3 and Intech SpeedTools Utilities.
A do-it-yourself configuration is available for $59.99. 250GB, 320GB, 400GB, 500GB and 750GB configurations are available for $127.99, $169.99, $179.99, $209.99 and $299.99 respectively.
