Mark/Space on Tuesday announced the release of The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile v4.0. The new release costs $39.95, with upgrades priced at $24.95.
The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile enables Macs to synchronize data with smartphones and PDAs that use versions of the Windows Mobile operating system system. Ordinarily those devices can’t talk with the Mac. The software lets users synchronize contact and calendar information, notes, tasks and other data, as well as exchange media files and more.
New to this release of The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile is support for newer devices that use Windows Mobile 6.
Also new is a Video plug-in that enables users to import videos show with built-in cameras on many Windows Mobile devices. The video is imported either to iPhone or to a folder of the user’s choosing. The video plug-in is bidirectional; users can also use it to encode video on their Mac and transfer it to the Windows Mobile device.
Other new features include a new Call Log plug-in and matching Call Log application, so you can track calls made and received with Windows Mobile smartphones. The new application integrates with Apple’s Address Book application to provide additional information on matching numbers.
A new SMS Log plug-in and and application have also been provided, to help users track text messages sent and received using their smartphone. Messages are grouped by contact in indices that are searchable using Spotlight.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later and a device running Windows Mobile/Pocket PC 2002 or later.
