Notion Music announced a new application specifically designed for Mac using guitarists. Dubbed Progression, it is a tablature and playback application that will be available in September.
Progression allows for tablature or standard notation to be entered via the keyboard or a mouse. You can also play the notes into the program with a MIDI guitar or MIDI keyboard.
Using its built-in sound library, Progression is then able to play back the music. Progression can also act as a VST host, which enables the use of effects plug-ins and amp modelers, making the sound much better.
Progression features real electric and acoustic guitar samples from Neil Zaza, and electric bass and drums samples from Grammy Award winners Victor Wooten and Roy Wooten.
Users have the ability to create guitar tabs, lead sheets and standard sheet music, as well as import and export MIDI files. Audio files can also be exported in WAV format to share when your composition is complete.
Progression will cost $149.99 when it becomes available in September.
