Quark has released QuarkXPress 7.3, an update to its page layout software for Mac OS X and Windows.
New to this release of QuarkXPress is additional supplemental language support, including localized user interfaces for European Portuguese, Russian, Finnish, Croatian, and Hungarian. Hyphenation and spelling support has been added for Ukrainian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Slovenian, Latvian, Estonian, Icelandic, and Slovak.
New default output styles have been pre-configured for PDF output, with settings like Press, Print, Screen – Medium quality and Screen – Low quality, PDF/X-1a:2001 and PDF/X-3:2002.
Performance has also been improved in the new release, specifically when working with text-heavy and long documents, saving documents locally and on network drives, outputting documents that contain drop shadows, outputting multiple copies or specific ranges of pages and checking spelling. What’s more, users will no longer experience reflow when opening documents created in previous versions of QuarkXPress.
The update is free for QuarkXPress 7.x users.
