Aspyr Media’s Game Agent is a handy utility for figuring out what games are available for your computer and how well it can run them. Now it’s been updated to offer more details to Intel Mac users.
The free utility helps you match your computer hardware with the system requirements of Aspyr’s game titles, so you can find at a glance which games run on your Mac. Game Agent will automatically identify which games run on your system and will determine necessary system upgrades to get other games to run (such as advising you if your RAM is too low to play a game, or if your video processor is too slow). It’s also a handy method for seeing what games will work on a system you’re thinking about purchasing — a menu lets you select from various system configurations.
Aspyr’s latest update to Game Agent, version 1.6.1, features an updated game directory with the latest info on Aspyr releases and upcoming games. The new version also identifies games with Universal binary support, and recognizes the Intel GMA 950 graphics integrated in MacBook and Intel Mac mini systems. The new release also properly recognizes Mac OS X v10.4.10. Two new sections have been added to the sidebar, too: “Runs on my Mac” and “Universal Games.”
Aspyr first announced plans to revisit Game Agent as an electronic delivery system for its games last year — a method that would let you purchase and download games online, rather than having to go to a store to buy them on CD and DVD. The company has no revised schedule on if or when that will happen, however.
