OTEE, makers of the Unity 3D game development engine, are sponsoring a development contest with the top prizes a license for Unity 2.0 and $2000 in cash.
Unity is a 3D game and simulation creation engine that lets users create very sophisticated games and 3D simulations — everything from students’ ballistics modeling for physics class to commercial action games. It’s been used to make Gooball by Ambrosia Software, for example, as well as Big Bang Brain Games and Tiki Magic Mini Golf by Freeverse Software.
And best of all, Unity is hosted on the Mac platform, and capable of making Mac games, along with Windows games, Dashboard widget games and even Web-based games.
In October OTEE will host its first-ever Unity developers conference in San Francisco, dubbed Unite 2007. The event will feature OTEE engineers who will offer in-depth sessions on how to use Unity.
To help stir interest both in Unity and Unite 2007, OTEE is sponsoring the Unity Game Development Contest, and asks, “Are you the Top Dog?” The contest’s emphasis is on creating online games — games submitted as standalone executables or Dashboard widgets aren’t eligible.
The registration deadline is September 1, 2007, and the submission deadline is September 17. Five finalists will be announced on September 24, and the contest winner will be announced on October 12, 2007 at Unity 2007.
