Freeridecoding on Thursday announced the release of SmartBackup 2.1, an update to its backup tool for Mac OS X. The software costs €15 (US$20.71), and is a free update for registered users.
SmartBackup enables users to back up personal data to hard drives, network volumes, WebDAV systems, USB thumbdrives, iPods and other devices. It supports Spotlight’s “Saved Searches” as backup items, works with Automator and shell scripts, and more.
New to the version 2.1 release is the ability to launch the application with “superuser” privileges; improved cleanup an archiving; better metadata handling; better backup to network volumes; updated interface; German localization; new Automator actions and several bug fixes.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later. SmartBackup is a Universal binary.
