SubRosaSoft.com on Tuesday announced the release of FileSalvage 6, a new version of its Mac OS X data recovery software. It costs $79.95 to download, $89.95 on CD-ROM. Upgrades from previous versions are also available.
FileSalvage is a set of tools designed to help Mac OS X users recover files that have become accidentally deleted, may be unreadable because of media faults, or stored on a hard drive that might have been re-initialized or formatted. New to the 6.0 release is the ability to define custom file types for recovery and a new ability to search for embedded files. A new bootable DVD is also available that will boot up on both Intel and PowerPC-based Macs.
