Logitech on Thursday introduced the Pure-Fi Anywhere Compact Speakers for iPod and the Pure-Fi Dream Premium Bedroom Music System for iPod. The Anywhere speakers are coming in September for $149.99; the Dream is coming in November for $249.99 (the Web site lists it at $299.99).
The Anywhere is Logitech’s follow up to its mm50 portable speakers for iPod. The system features a rechargeable battery with battery life indicator, improved traveling case and redesigned remote control. It incorporates a universal Dock to attach any Dock Connector-equipped iPod, and it can play music and recharge the battery.
The Anywhere measures 3.6 x 13.2 x 1.5 inches, and weighs 1.6 pounds. It sports two 2-inch Max-X high-excursion drivers with neodymium magnets and two 3-inch pressure drivers for bass response.
The new Dream is designed expressly for ipod users who are looking for a high-quality sound system for the bedroom. It incorporates a digital AM/FM radio, dual alarm with battery backup and motion and light-sensing technology.
The Dream features 3/4-inch soft dome tweeters and 3-inch long-throw woofers. It also features “StereoXL” technology that can “widen” the soundfield. The control buttons will automatically light up when a person waves a hand over the top of the speaker, and then will automatically dim when you’re done. The motion-sensing technology also works with the snooze function.
The Dream supports 24 presets, including six iPod playlists, six AM radio stations and 12 FM radio stations. An included remote control gives you access to play features on the iPod. And the Dream incorporates an integrated Dock, so it charges the iPod while it rests in the speaker system.
