Corsair has introduced its Flash Padlock, a USB thumbdrive that uses a keypad to lock your data on the go. It’s available in 1GB and 2GB sizes for $29.99 and $39.99 respectively.
The USB 2.0 flash thumbdrive sports auto-locking hardware security. You program in a customizable PIN similarly to what you do for your ATM card. Lock and unlock lights indicate the device’s status.
The locking — accessible using a keypad embedded in the flash drive — works independently of software, so the Flash Padlock is Mac, Windows and Linux compatible without requiring any additional drivers. Corsair also offers an online PIN registration system in case you need to keep track of your Flash Padlocks’ PINs.
