Expanding its reach into the casual Mac game market, Aspyr Media has announced the release of Big Fish Games’ Virtual Villagers: A New Home in retail stores. The game costs $29.99.
Virtual Villagers puts you in charge of an island civilization — villagers who find themselves washed ashore following a violent volcanic eruption. A real time simulation game, your goal is to teach the islanders the way to be self-sufficient — they need to become scientists, farmers, builders, parents and more. You’ll track hundreds of unique villagers along the way and uncover mysteries the more you play.
Virtual Villagers is rated E+10 for everyone age 10 and older. The game has already been released as shareware, but Aspyr’s effort will get Virtual Villagers into retail stores for the first time.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G4 or better (including Intel) 450MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 1GB hard disk space, ATI Radeon 8500, Nvidia GeForce2 MX or Intel GMA 950 graphics with 32MB VRAM. See Aspyr’s Web site for more detailed requirements.
