GelaSkins has unveiled
covers for the iPhone that come with matching downloadable wallpaper. They cost $14.95 each.
GelaSkins are artist-designed removable “skins” for the iPod, Mac laptops and now the iPhone, made of a very thin vinyl made by 3M. The vinyl is backed with an adhesive that doesn’t bond to the surface and removes without leaving any marks.
GelaSkins has separated itself from other manufacturers of iPod and MacBook covers and accessories by licensing art from modern artists and well-known works — everything from MC Escher to Ralph Steadman, artists whose work is inspired by Japanese animation, street art and more.
The iPhone covers follow the same basic theme as GelaSkins’ other efforts. The iPhone GelaSkins cover the iPhone’s exposed metal surface, leaving the camera lens uncovered. But since the front of the iPhone remains unhindered, GelaSkins includes a matching downloadable wallpaper designed for the screen.
