Targus on Wednesday announced the iPod SoundUP, which it bills as a “high definition sound enhancer” for the iPod and other MP3 players. It costs $29.99 (Targus’ Web site lists it for $39.99).
SoundUP creates a “three-dimensional sound envelope” from your iPod using a circuit design licensed from Phantom Technologies. The device, which connects to the iPod’s headphone jack, also splits the audio signal so you can hook up two sets of headphones.
The SoundUP uses a AAA battery and measures 7 x 7/8 x 1.5 inches and weighs less than 2 ounces.
