The Austin Game Developers Conference (GDC) is coming up on September 5 – 7, 2007 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. The show’s coordinators have announced new sessions and speakers, including the event’s keynote speakers.
Held by CMP Technology, the Austin GDC is one of a number of regional GDC events held around the world. An annual gathering in San Francisco is typically the “big” event, and the Austin GDC’s focus is specifically on online game development, as well as writing and audio design for games.
Brian Schmidt, Program Manager, Xbox Audio and Media is delivering one keynote address entitled “No More Excuses: Time for Great Game Audio,” where he’ll discuss how game designers can create great audio despite and because of limitations experienced by game audio pros.
“Magic, Madness and the Muse” is the title of a second keynote presented by Lee Sheldon, Assistant Professor, Department of Telecommunications, Indiana University, who will discuss an interactive survival guide for video game writers and their employers.
Mike Morhaime, President and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, will also be on-hand to speak, along with dave Perry, former President and Founder of Shiny Entertainment, Sulka Haro, Lead Designer at Sulake Corp. and Hiromichi Tanaka, Executive officer with Square Enix.
