Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) on Wednesday introduced OpenFM, a free application for the iPhone that enables users to find open FM frequencies in their area. It’s intended for users of DLO’s TransDock and other FM transmitters compatible with the iPod and iPhone.
When you enter an area that’s unfamiliar, you can just visit OpenFM on your iPhone, enter the city and state or zip code, and the application pulls up a list of the top seven open frequencies in that area. It also links to a Google Map of the area so you can be sure that’s the correct location.
OpenFM pulls the results in real=time from an active database, according to DLO, not a flat file, so it’s kept accurate and up to date.
