Lava Software has released Kenbushi Pro 7.1, an update to its media entertainment software for Mac OS X, Windows and soon, Linux. The software is now free for personal users, schools and charity organizations. For commercial users it costs $24.95 per user.
Kenbushi Pro is an alternative to Front Row — it lets you view your library of movies, TV shows, music and other media files using full-screen control. It plays AVI, DivX, H.264 and other video types, works with all music (including iTunes Store-bought songs), automatically selects media players (like QuickTime or VLC), offers backup features, and more.
New in the 7.1 version is the addition of a “vidcast” media category with series organized by date; automatic addition of iTunes podcasts, remotely transferred media files and BitTorrent downloads, improved automatic categorization, automatic daily news updates, and new “tools” and “settings” menus.
