CNET Networks has acquired the TechTracker family of Web sites, including VersionTracker, MacFixIt and iPhone Atlas. Separate notes confirming the acquisition were posted to all three sites late on Wednesday.
Writing in his blog, VersionTracker.com founder Kurt Christensen said that CNEt’s acquisition of the TechTracker sites “gives CNET a stronger presence in the Mac market than ever before.”
MacFixit senior editor Ben Wilson confirmed, along with Christensen, that their staff will remain intact in Portland, Ore. and will continue to publish Mac-focused information. Christensen said that work on VersionTracker Pro — the company’s premium updating service — will continue, as well.
VersionTracker offers Mac, Windows and Palm users information about updated software. MacFixIt provides troubleshooting help for Mac users, and iPhone Atlas offers information and tips for iPhone users.
