Microsoft on Wednesday announced the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000, a mouse for laptop systems that’s Mac and PC-compatible. It’s coming in October for $99.95.
The right-handed mouse is wireless, and uses 2.4GHz technology via a small transceiver that’s plugged into a USB port. That device is more than just a transceiver, however — it’s also a 1GB USB thumbdrive, and when the mouse is plugged into its end when it’s in the laptop (using a magnetic connector), the mouse’s internal batteries recharge. What’s more, the device is Bluetooth-compatible. If you’d prefer to work without the transceiver connected at all and your Mac has Bluetooth, you simply flip a switch on the bottom of the mouse.
The mouse features a scroll wheel, on-off button to extend battery life viewer, “Magnifier” feature that enlarges text and images, battery life indicator and high-definition laser tracking.
