Stone Design has announced the release of Videator 4.1, an update to its VJ and video effects software for Mac OS X. The software costs $49, but it’s a free update for all registered users. A downloadable demo is also available.
Videator lets you apply dramatic graphical effects and flourishes to video feeds. It’s suitable for VJs working in live performances, or for movie-makers who want to add wild time-based special effects to their footage.
The new release of Videator uses QuickTime 7.2 Capture classes. The software no longer “hogs” the video camera; other apps and windows can open the same camera. The new release has more accurate recording and supports multiple cameras. More camera types are supported and HDV is supported if Final Cut Pro is installed. You can instantly switch camera inputs, start recording sessions faster, change sound inputs and more.
System requirements call for MAc OS X v10.4 or later.
