After announcing that the UK would get the iPhone on November 9 at a special event on Tuesday in London, Apple said today that it would also launch the iPhone in Germany on the same day.
As expected, T-Mobile has won the exclusive rights to the iPhone in Germany. Calling it “the best mobile device currently on the market,” Hamid Akhavan, CEO, T-Mobile International, said he is convinced that they can get their “customers excited about experiencing the mobile internet with the iPhone.” The iPhone’s Internet browsing capabilities is one of the many features that sets the iPhone apart from its competition.
The iPhone will use T-Mobile’s EDGE network and will be Wi-Fi compatible, giving users the ability to connect to 8,600 T-Mobile HotSpots in Germany. German users will also have access to the iTunes Wi-Fi Store, a service Apple introduced that allows iPhone users to download songs on the phone and then sync back to the computer.
The iPhone will be sold through Telekom Shops of Deutsche Telekom and the T-Mobile web shop. iPhone requires a new 2-year T-Mobile tariff and will be available in an 8GB model for euro 399 including V.A.T. and will work with either a PC or Mac.
