Richard “Richie Ramone” Reinhardt filed a lawsuit against several online music services claiming he is owed almost $1 million in royalties, according to the Associated Press .
Reinhardt said that he never authorized online sales of songs that he wrote for the band between 1983 and 1987. Reinhardt named Wal-Mart, Apple, RealNetworks, the band’s management and the estate of its lead guitarist John Cummings — better known as Johnny Ramone — in the lawsuit.
Reinhardt has also asked the court to issue an injunction preventing further use of the songs “Smash You,”“Somebody Put Something in My Drink,”“Human Kind,”“I’m Not Jesus,”“I Know Better Now” and “(You) Can’t Say Something Nice.”
Representatives from Apple could not immediately be reached for comment. Typically, Apple does not comment about ongoing litigation.
