UPEK has announced that its Eikon Digital Privacy Manager, a “biometric” security device, now works with the Mac. It costs $39.99.
The device plugs into a USB port and enables you to swipe your finger across a sensor rather than having to remember passwords. It works in conjunction with Protector Suite software installed on the Mac — the software works with Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
Protector Suite enables you to lock your computer at logon, unlock the Keychain utility to replay login credentials to Web accounts and access secure notes and certificates, unlock secure preferences, unlock FileVault to decrypt your home folder and unlock the screensaver.
The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager requires Mac OS X v10.4. A “preview version” of the Protector Suite software is available for download.
