Intego has announced the release of FileGuard X4, data protection software for Mac OS X. FileGuard X4 costs $49.95.
FileGuard X4 stores files in “virtual safes” that can be stored on file servers, external disks or elsewhere. You can send FileGuard X4-encrypted files to others as long as they have the password; recipients don’t need FileGuard X4 software in order to open the files.
You can create FileGuard safes by dragging an dropping files from the Finder, and you can increase their size as more files are added. Icons indicate whether files are open or protected, as well.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
In related news, Intego has announced that it has upgraded its VirusBarrier X4 Dual Protection and Internet Security Barrier Antispam Edition Dual Protection suites with BitDefender’s latest 2008 versions of its security software. The software enables users to protect themselves from virus infiltration if their Macs are running Boot Camp, Parallels, VMware Fusion or another virtualization or Windows operating environment.
