Corel on Thursday introduced Painter Essentials 4. Based on the company’s popular Painter software, Painter Essentials 4 is a slimmed down version aimed at home users looking to set up a digital art studio. It costs $99.99, or $69.99 to upgrade.
Painter Essentials 4 enables computer users to create digital art and illustrations modeled after real world materials. The software is designed for digital camera users, scrapbookers, arts and crafts enthusiasts and others.
New to the version 4 release is a redesigned workspace that makes it easier for users to get started. A new Brush Drawer makes it easier to identify brushes and select them. New color and mixer palettes have been added, the photo painting system has been enhanced, and the software’s “smart stroke” technology, which paints with strokes that follow the forms of the original photo, has been improved.
Brush responsiveness has been heightened with “RealBristle” painting, carried over from Painter X, and pens are now featured. An expanded selection of paper textures are supported, a new tutorial-based guidebook has been added, and more.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later, G4/700MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, mouse or tablet, 24-bit color display, 1024 x 768 resolution, CD-ROM and 1GB HD space.
