AssistiveWare on Thursday announced the release of VisioVoice 1.1, an update to its software to assist Mac OS X users with visual impairments. VisioVoice 1.1 is a free update for registered users, and costs $249.
ViioVoice licenses Infovox iVox to provide users with a naturally-sounding voice interface for navigating Mac OS X. The interface provides a “typing echo,” text and image zoom windows, large cursors and a document and selection reader.
New features in 1.1 include the typing echo, which “echoes” your keystrokes in any application, live updates to the text zoom window, enhancements to the talking interface that work with the mouse and full keyboard access, support for Pages and Keynote in iWork 08, improved support for reading text in Safari, improved PDF import, Japanese localization and translation, Leopard support and other improvements and fixes.
VisioVoice requires Mac OS X v10.4 or later. It’s a Universal binary.
