Freeverse Software has released Periscope 1.5, an updated version of their camera software for Mac OS X, and they’ve basically rewritten from the ground up. A free upgrade for registered users, Periscope costs $39.95 to register, and you can download a time-limited demo now.
Periscope started life as a security camera software app to go along with people’s iSights or other Mac-compatible webcams. The software features motion and audio-sensitivity, and can snap pictures then send them to a .Mac account, FTP, by e-mail and more. It’s suitable for creating time lapse photo sequences or even stop-motion movies.
The 1.5 version has an improved, resizable interface along with significantly improved launch times and less memory usage; smoother video rendering, expanded help and a multitude of bug fixes. What’s more, the software is ready to go with Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard,” which Apple will release on Oct. 26th.
Periscope’s system requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later and a Mac-compatible webcam.
