Macware has introduced MacTuneUp, a new utility to help Mac users clean up, optimize and back up their Macs. It costs $29.99.
MacTuneUp can discover and fix problems, restore hard disk space, and maximizes Internet and network connections, according to Macware. The software features functions to boost performance of e-mail, FTP, Internet browsing, chats and other online activity. The Maintenance Pilot runs periodic tasks, repairs permissions and optimizes the system. It can also customize firewall settings to improve security.
MacTuneUp can crete a bootable backup of your hard disk drive, used for moving the operating system from one disk to another, for example, or to backup system folders individually. You can also create a disk image of a system volume to be recovered later using Apple Software Restore.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later (including Leopard), 256MB RAM and 10MB hard disk space.
