Virtual Programming on Thursday announced plans to release Europa Universalis III for the Mac. It’s the most recent major installment of the turn-based strategy game series developed by Paradox Interactive. It will cost $39.95. VP expects to ship the game in the fourth calendar quarter of 2007.
Europa Universalis III puts you in the role of empire-building in Europe, from 1453 to 1789. You must balance trade, warfare and diplomacy as you decide from which of more than 250 countries you will run. You can decide your own form of government, the structure of your society, trade politics and other criteria that affect how your country evolves.
Europa Universalis III features historic figures including Sir Isaac Newton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and others. The game features a full 3D map with more than 1700 provinces and time zones, thousands of historic monarchs, more than 100 individual unit troops, cross-platform co-op multiplayer support and customization options.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, GeForce 5200, Radeon 9600 or Intel GMA 950 graphics, Intel or PowerPC chip, 64MB VRAM, 512MB RAM and 700MB hard disk drive space.
VP’s Web site had not been updated with information about Europa Universalis III as Macworld posted this article.
