recommending to customers that they not use its database products with Mac OS X Leopard, FileMaker on Friday provided some more details on what the issues are with the software.
According to FileMaker there are two incompatibilities between Leopard and FileMaker. The first is that the Instant Web Publishing feature does not work. The second issue is that with Leopard each language version of FileMaker Pro 9 and FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced works only when the Mac OS System Preference “International Formats Region” is set to a specific region.
This means that the English language version of FileMaker works only when the region is United States. It does not work when the region is United Kingdom, or Australia, or France or any other region, the company said in a note posted to its Web site.
“FileMaker Server 9 and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced currently do not deploy properly on Leopard. We are working on Leopard compatibility updates for FileMaker Server 9 and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced but do not have an estimated availability date at this time,” the company said in a support
Even though FileMaker said there is no estimated availability for the update, the support pages indicate the company is targeting November 19, 2007 for the free downloadable update.
